Imam Mohammed al-Baqir AS likened a mumin to a honeybee. Both mumineen and honeybees possess something that is so sweet and pure that if others knew of it, they would try to take it away. A honeybee’s worth comes from its honey; that of a mumin comes from his/her mohabbat of al-Dai al-Ajal Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA and his mansoos al-Dai al-Ajal Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS.

Before honeybees venture out to draw nectar from flowers, Allah Ta´ala instructs them to build their hives. Once their homes are built, they head out with His permission to gather rizq. Similarly, mumineen first establish their faith, belief, and identity, creating a solid foundation upon mohabbat. They comprehend their purpose in life. Then, with Maula’s TUS raza mubarak, they venture out to pursue education and conduct their livelihood. Both a honeybee and a mumin always set out with the intention of returning back and nurturing their homes.

Just as Allah Ta´ala instructed honeybees to drink the nectar of various flowers, Maula TUS encourages us to excel in different professions and to acquire different skills. Honeybees return to their hives, their stomachs filled with nectar, and create honey. In everything mumineen set out to achieve, mohabbat and faith are the driving forces. They acquire a wide variety of knowledge and skills and amass wealth, all with the ultimate desire of attaining the best of both worlds.

Syedi Hasan bin Nooh QR, a wealthy businessman, willingly sacrificed everything for Maula. During a time of peril, he stated, “With my soul and with my wealth, I will strive to protect this home, this Dawat. If I do not, then I am not Hasan bin Nooh!” His words, and more importantly, his actions and sacrifice affirm that one’s identity is not through his profession and wealth but due to his Maula.

Mumineen should never abandon their homes – their mohabbat for their Dai, like honey, it is very pure and valuable and in it is divine shifaa’.

All throughout last year, we cried out ‘labbaik’ and answered our Dai’s TUS call to attend Asharah Mubarakah from 2nd Moharram onwards. We prepared for Ashara, engaging in numerous Ohbat initiatives to ensure that each and every mumin came to Imam Husain’s AS majaalis from the very day his horse, Zul-Janah, halted in Karbala.

When 2nd Moharram arrived, mumineen put everything aside – college, jobs, businesses – and returned home to attend each waaz, each majlis. At the behest of Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS, scores of mumineen gathered in every city and small villages to mourn, to do the zikr of Imam Husain AS and Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA. Their unwavering mohabbat and faith gave mumineen the strength and energy to carry out Maula TUS’s wishes.

Imam Husain AS’s as-haab (followers) never left his side, and stayed with him until the end, ultimately sacrificing their souls for him. When each one of them took their last breath, Imam Husain AS came to them. He lifted them up, carried them on his shoulder and gathered all of their bodies in one place. He ensured that they returned to their final and eternal home – jannat, in the presence of Panjatan Paak AS and Aimmat Tahereen AS. In answering Syedna al-Dai al-Ajal’s TUS call and remaining with him from beginning to end, Maula too will ensure that when we leave this world, we return to our one true home.
