And the most beautiful names belong to Allah, so call on Him by them, and leave the company of those who belie or deny (or utter impious speech against) His Names. They will be requited/retributed for what they used to do.
The Pious names of Awliya’ullah AS have profound Hikmat beneath them. They speak volumes about the lives and works of those they belong to. In fact, these names and their zawaat nooraniyah are so closely blended with each other that the name (اسم) and the named (مسمى) become one.
An angel instructed Maulatona ‘Amenah AS in her dream to name the baby she was expecting , “Mohammed.” Jibra’il AS came with the names of Imam Hasan AS and Imam Husain AS written on silk from Jannah.
Amirul Mumenin Maulana Ali AS has recorded the names of Du’at Mutlaqeen in “Kitabul ‘ilm.” Syedna ‘Abdeali Saifuddin RA renamed Syedna ‘Abdulqadir Najmuddin RA who was previously named Yusuf, saying that he was named “Abdulqadir” in “Kitabul ‘ilm.”
We have scores of incidents and narrations from the taarikh of Awliya’ullah AS which highlight the significance of their pious names.
51st al-Da’I al-Mutlaq Syedna Taher Saifuddin RA’s name “Taher” (meaning pure and chaste) bears testimony to the works and efforts he took upon during his tenure of fifty years. He removed hostile elements from the haram of Da’wah, cleansing the atmosphere for the true devoted followers. Imamuz zamaan AS graced him with victories against enemies of Da’wah-which affirms that he was indeed Saifuddin; sword of Deen.
The 52nd al-Da’I al-Mutlaq was named “Mohammed” (meaning praise worthy),with the name of our Nabi Mohammed Rasulullah SAW. Allah has praised him in Qura’n-e-Karim saying, “وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلى خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ ” (Indeed you are of exalted character).
Syedna Taher Saifuddin RA praised the exalted virtues of his successor Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA in many of his writings and speeches.
Amongst the Du’at Mutlaqeen RA the third Da’i to be bestowed with the laqab of “Saifuddin” (Sword of Deen) is our beloved Maula the 53rd al-Da’i al-Mutlaq Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS. His name Aali Qadr (meaning of a high rank and position) Mufaddal (the virtuous and the preferred one) and laqab Saifuddin the position and virtues he was destined for.
On the birth of Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA sought his name from Syedna Taher Saifuddin RA. Syedna Taher Saifuddin RA named the new born “Aali Qadr Mufaddal”, the numerical value of which adds up to 1365; the year in which he was born.
If we look into the literal translations of the words qadr (قدر) , fadl (فضل) and Mufaddal (مفضل) we get the following:
Qadr (قدر): Degree or rank.
fadl (فضل) : merits, graciousness, virtues, good qualities.
Mufaddal (مفضل) : The preferred one, the chosen one, one who excels, one who outshines, one who surpasses others.
Syedna Taher Saifuddin RA with his farsightedness saw that the new born will succeed his successor Mohammed Burhanuddin, He chose the name which alluded to Nass.
Later, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA graced his successor and heir Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS with this hand written aayah sharifah: قُلْ إِنَّ الْفَضْلَ بِيَدِ اللّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَن يَشَاء (All the bounties are in the hand of Allah; He grants to whom He wills.) وَاللَّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ (Allah is the owner of great bounty.)
The above alamah sharifah signifies the continuity of the indication given by Syedna Taher Saifuddin RA by when he named the new born “Aali Qadr Mufaddal.” Besides, Indeed. Rutbah of Itlaq is bestowed by the Fadl of Imamuz zamaan AS.
The laqab sharif; “Saifuddin” was bestowed by Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA upon Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS immediately after the wafaat of Syedna Taher Saifuddin RA on his zikra milad Mubarak. This marked the continuation of “Saifee Burhani Barakaat.”
In the year 1388, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA appointed Syedna Aali Qadr Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS his heir successor and wrote in his munajat of Lailatul Qadr that year:
باسماء مولانا الامام دعاته الـ اولى منظظم كل اغر محجل
(I beseech the wasilah of Imamuz zamaan AS’s pious names; Dua’t Mutlaqeen. Each of them is luminous and glowing.)
وسيف الهدى كالشمس بين النجوم في تشعشعه بين الدعاة مفضل
(Just like the position and rank of Sun amongst rest of the stars, Saiful Huda is Mufaddal due to his luminous radiation.)
Indeed, Maulana Aali Qadr Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS is one of the pious names of Imamuz zamaan AS, who in turn is one of the beautiful names of Allah.
May Allah by the wasilah of his beautiful names grant our beloved Da’i Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin a healthy life till the day of Qiyamat. Long live Syedna Aali Qadr Mufaddal SaifuddinTUS.
